Energo-Pro Georgia has issued a statement warning against the relocation or reconstruction of elements of its electricity distribution network to accommodate individual business or development projects.
Operating in Georgia since 2007, the company inherited the existing electricity network and is responsible for its safe and reliable operation. Energo-Pro says the network was designed and built according to technical standards and energy-system stability principles, meaning that relocating transmission lines, poles or substations could negatively affect the network’s reliability and resilience.
“The configuration of electricity transmission and distribution lines cannot be determined by the interests of individual private or legal entities, nor can it be adapted to the requirements of various development projects if this conflicts with the safe and reliable operation of the energy system,” said Grigol Mamiseishvili, Chairman of Energo-Pro Georgia’s Board of Directors. He called on developers, particularly in the Adjara region, to consider the existing network when planning projects and avoid developments that would require changes to the network.
The company also urged businesses and other interested parties to comply with the protection zones for linear infrastructure established under Government Decree No. 366. Energo-Pro stressed that construction work must maintain safe distances from electrical equipment and must not be carried out beneath transmission lines or dangerously close to other network infrastructure, as such activities could endanger public safety and compromise the secure and reliable operation of the electricity network.
