National Environment Agency on Wednesday said it had detected an increase in particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10) in the capital Tbilisi and some regions of Georgia.

The agency claimed the said was linked to the transboundary pollution, most likely caused by the spread of dust mass from the Karakum desert (Central Asia).

“The forecasters at the agency are studying the cause of the process, which takes some time,” it added.
