The tender for the construction of the tram line connecting Didi Digomi to the Didube metro station will be announced within this week, Tbilisi Vice Mayor Giorgi Tkemaladze told BM.GE. He noted that the delay was due to legal procedures required for the tender announcement.
According to market research, the estimated cost of the project is EUR 110 million, including the tram carriages, though this figure may be adjusted.
“Absolutely all procedures regarding the announcement of the tram tender have been completed. Certain legal obligations had to be fulfilled by the regional ministry, and we are hopeful that the tender will be announced by the end of the week, if not next week at the latest. Market research shows the approximate cost of the project is EUR 110 million, including carriages. This amount may be adjusted, but this is the figure revealed by our research,” Tkemaladze said.
The modern, European-standard tram line will span 7.5 kilometers, connecting Didi Digomi with Didube metro, featuring 11 stops and 10 tram carriages. Market research for the project was initially announced in March 2025.
