EU Ambassador, Pawel Herczynski declares, that Georgia will no longer receive 30 million Eur from the European Peace Fund (EPF). According to him, this decision was made by EU leaders at the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg.
He also noted that direct aid to the Government of Georgia will gradually decrease and these funds will be redirected to the media and civil society. According to Pavel Herchinski, the direct aid of the European Union to the government in Georgia exceeds 10 times that received by the civil society.
"Regrettably, Georgia’s EU accession process is stopped for now – this has been decided by EU leaders during the last European Council.
EU has frozen its support for Georgia from the European Peace Facility - EURO 30 million for 2024. Other measures are being considered if the situation further deteriorates.
It is sad to see EU-Georgia relations at such a low point, when they could have been at an all-time high", EU Ambassador, Pawel Herczynski said.
