On 30 May, the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA) inaugurated its Liaison and Support Office in Yerevan. The new office, located at the Armenia Marriott Hotel, will bolster EUMA’s mandate and activities by enhancing the Mission’s engagement with national and international partners in the Armenian capital.
Markus Ritter, Head of EUMA, stated: "Our new liaison office will facilitate exchange and increase coordination with the stakeholders in Yerevan in support of the Mission’s mandate implementation. It also serves as a workspace for our staff."
With the opening of this new office, EUMA now operates from seven different locations across Armenia. The Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) are situated in Yeghegnadzor, Jermuk, Martuni, Ijevan, Goris, and Kapan.
To date, EUMA has conducted over 2300 patrols along the Armenian side of the border with Azerbaijan.
EUMA was launched on 20 February 2023 and currently consists of 132 mission members representing 23 Member States. The civilian unarmed mission has a two-year mandate, running until February 2025.
