German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is on an official visit to Moldova, denied the information spread by "Eurobserver". According to the publication, Germany demanded the suspension of visa-free travel to some countries - including Georgia.
He said that this information and the mentioned initiative were not put on the agenda of Germany.
"Reading this information was as unexpected for me as it was for you. I inquired about it in Berlin and the Federal Ministry of the Interior and found that this news was not based on reality. It is just a false story," the German president said.
The EU Observer writes based on the document obtained by him that the document submitted by Germany to the European Commission is dated 27 September. At the same time, according to the publication, Germany, Italy, and France are expressing growing frustration with visa liberalization.
According to the document, Albania is the second largest number of asylum seekers in Germany; Ukraine - fifth, Serbia - seventh, Moldova - ninth, Georgia - tenth.
