People affected by the war in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone will receive humanitarian aid from the European Union in the amount of 9-10 million euros, EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi said.

Varhelyi said he was saddened by the fact that there were victims during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, adding that in this context, “we have raised humanitarian aid worth 9-10 million euros that will be provided to the people affected by the conflict in the very near future”, local media ARKA reports.

In his words, the EU is committed and ready to take up an active role in the post-hostilities situation both as a facilitator of confidence-building measures, especially to first overcome the humanitarian crisis, and later on as a key partner in the economic recovery in the crisis-hit region and the surrounding regions.
