The 8th Ministerial Meeting was held in Baku within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council, which was attended by the governments of the participating countries, as well as representatives of the European Commission and the US Government.

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said that between January 2021 and January 2022, Azerbaijan exported 18.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which was consumed by Turkey, Georgia and EU member states Italy, Bulgaria and Greece. Among them, exports directly to the EU amounted to 8.9 billion cubic meters.

The Shah Deniz gas pipeline system (SCP) through Georgia is connected to the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP), which in turn will be connected to the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) on the border of western Turkey.

The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline itself crosses Greece and Albania, from where it flows through a pipeline to the bottom of the Adriatic Sea to southern Italy. The total length of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline is 870 km.
