The European Union urges the Government of Georgia “to listen to their people, to be inclusive, to talk to civil society and follow their wish to become a part of Europe”, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said in a video, released on her Facebook page on 21 October.
Marta Kos said that the people in Georgia have shown that they want a European future, but not the government.
“Their government apparently doesn’t listen to their own people and doesn’t want to go the European way. The opponents /…/ are jailed and the journalists and civil society organisations are silenced,” the Commissioner said.
Marta Kos also condemned the false narratives against the European Union and the attacks on European institutions and the representatives of the European institutions and EU Member States.
