Georgia saw a 30% increase in visitors from the European Union and the United Kingdom in the first quarter of 2026, reaching 96,226 arrivals. Despite the growth, the EU still accounts for only 8% of total international visitors.
According to the National Tourism Administration, Germany remained the leading EU source market, sending 14,051 visitors, up nearly 38% year-on-year. It was followed by Poland with 13,651 visitors (+34%), the United Kingdom with 9,479 (+46%), Italy with 7,117 (+71%), and Greece with 7,089 (+22%).
In total, international visitors made 1,170,362 trips to Georgia in Q1, a slight 0.2% decline compared to last year. Of these, 997,529 were tourist-type visits, marking a modest 4% increase, while same-day visits dropped sharply by almost 41%, falling to 172,833.
For the first time in recent years, Turkey became the top source of visitors in Q1, surpassing Russia, which had previously held the leading position.
