The Parliament’s European Integration Committee has approved its 2025 Action Plan.
According to the Committee Chairman Levan Makhashvili, the committee’s action plan consists of five main strategic goals, including specific activities, covering legislative, supervisory, parliamentary diplomacy, and public relations aspects of the committee’s work.
Makhashvili stated that in 2025, the committee would dedicate significant time to aligning Georgian legislation with EU acquis and fulfilling obligations under the Association Agreement. He added that the action plan envisions the adoption of sector-specific bills that will implement EU standards in Georgia.
As the Committee Chair noted, for parliamentary oversight purposes, the committee will monitor the implementation of the Association Agreement, Association Agenda, and National Action Plan for EU Integration. He also stated that supervision is planned over the executive branch’s adoption of normative acts required by the Association Agreement and the enforcement of approved legislative acts.
“Furthermore, the committee’s 2025 action plan includes committee hearings in environmental protection, agriculture, healthcare, energy, transport, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), and others. According to the action plan, one of the committee’s priorities will be mobilizing support for the country’s EU membership through parliamentary diplomacy, which includes informing international partners about ongoing democratic reforms in Georgia, developing bilateral relations with EU member states and candidate countries, sharing best practices, deepening cooperation with EU institutions, and participating in international parliamentary events,” the parliament’s press service informed.
According to Makhashvili, the committee will focus on promoting public involvement in EU integration processes, as well as informing various social groups about EU membership issues.
