Maia Murachashvili, a hotelier and manager of Hotel “Roshe Gudauri” declares, that the flow of European tourists in Gudauri was more active in 2024 compared to the previous year, but they visited the resort with individual tours, instead of group visits.
According to her, 21.8% of the total load came from tourists from Western Europe, while the figure was exceeded by tourists from the "Gulf" countries, but they did not stay for a long time. As she explained, they spent mostly 2-3 nights, while Western European tourists arrive for a long time for skiing.
“Finally, I can say, that 2024 winter season was more intense and busier in terms of tourism compared to the last year. We have better expectations from spring, as we already have active bookings. A serious PR campaign was carried out, we participated in exhibitions, so we expect this year should exceed the pre-pandemic 2019," Maia Murachashvili said.
According to the data of the National Tourism Administration, in 1Q2024, 77,045 international visits from the European Union and Great Britain were made to Georgia, which was 40.9% more than the same period last year.
