Changes were made to the preferential agro-credit project as of the decision adopted at the government meeting. According to the changes, modern technologies will become available to farmers. With a preferential agro-loan, farmers can purchase an agricultural unmanned aerial vehicle (agrodrone) and a weather station for agricultural objects.
As part of the subsidized agro-credit facility, interested farmers can purchase agro-drones with praying and scanning functions for agronomic purposes. The state will finance the loan to the farmers in the amount of 11% per annum for 48 months. The loan amount ranges from GEL 20,000 to GEL 1,500,000.
The same condition applies in the case of setting up weather stations. Through the weather station in their farms, farmers will be able to predict the climate, prevent threats caused by pests and diseases, as well as collect data needed to plan various agricultural works.
"In order to overcome modern challenges in agriculture, the use of reasonable agricultural technologies and approaches is becoming more relevant in order to get more results, to increase productivity, both quantitatively and qualitatively, with lower costs. By using these approaches, it becomes possible to increase agricultural production in Georgia. The products should be more competitive both on the local and international markets; more income should be created in the agricultural sector and the development process of the sector should be based on the principles of sustainability," the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture says.
