In Kutaisi, in Hauling owned industrial zone, a ferro alloy plant is being constructed with Chinese investment. The plant will produce silicon, - Soso Nibladze, Executive Director of Hauling Free Economic Zone said to BM.ge. The Ferro Alloy Resource Group will start production in several months.
“Construction of the plant is completed. Installation of high voltage power cables is in progress, after completion of which the plant will start operation. This is quite a wide-scale technical work, since we are bringing the high voltage line from Tskaltubo. The plant will produce silicon as a result of charcoal and coal, quartz and petro coke treatment. Silicon is used in non-ferrous metal industry and it will be 100% exported. Row materials will be imported from various countries, including: Ukraine, Central Asia and former soviet countries,” – states Soso Nibladze. 3 mln USD investment was made for construction of the plant.
