The Executive Director of the Georgia-EU Business Council, Giorgi Kacharava, notes that ferry traffic is one of the promising directions where additional investments can be made. He stated this at the 5th International Exhibition and Conference of Black Sea Ports and Shipping.
According to Giorgi Kacharava, there are challenges in this regard, although the activity of the private sector can solve many issues.
“Of course, there are challenges, but as a result of overcoming them, we can make the Middle Corridor more competitive. We are talking about new investments, certain legislative changes, and the introduction of new technologies, which can significantly improve throughput. One of the directions that is very promising is ferry traffic, since the Black Sea practically acts as a bridge to the EU countries, and it is gratifying that three companies are already operating in this direction. In this regard, there can also be talk of certain potential investments. "There are many interesting directions that we are working on as a result of consultations with companies, and we think that we will achieve interesting results together," - Giorgi Kacharava said.
