The Finance and Budget Committee discussed amendments to the Law on Grants and backed in the first reading.
According to the Parliamentary Secretary of the Government Vakhtang Bachiashvili, a government-designated legal entity of public law, responsible for supporting public organizations, will be authorized to issue grants for the same purpose.
Additionally, the amendments introduce a provision granting the head of this legal entity the authority to issue both normative and individual administrative-legal acts to ensure the smooth implementation of these activities.
Committee Chairman Paata Kvizhinadze emphasized the importance of transparent and open financing in alignment with national interests.
“The Transparency Law is crucial for clearly identifying what is being financed. It is also important that we actively participate in this process, ensuring that tenders and competitions are conducted openly and transparently so that our country funds the projects it truly needs,” said Kvizhinadze.
The committee supported the draft law, which is being considered by Parliament in an expedited manner.
