NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced on Monday that Finland will formally join the alliance on Tuesday.
"This is a historic week. Tomorrow we will welcome Finland as the 31st member of NATO. We will raise the Finnish flag for the first time here at Nato HQ," Stoltenberg stated. He noted that Finland will become a "full member" of the alliance on April 4 and bring its "full capabilities" to NATO. The Finnish flag will be raised at the NATO headquarters at a ceremony at 3:30 pm CET tomorrow.
The move comes after TUrkey became the final NATO member to approve Helsinki's bid to join the alliance by ratifying it last week.
