Giorgi Bachiashvili, former head of the Georgian Co-Investment Fund (GCF), was released from imprisonment based on a concluded plea agreement, the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to the GPB’s First Channel.

“The former head of the Georgian Co-Investment Fund fully admitted his guilt in all criminal cases. He cooperated with the investigation, reimbursed the inflicted damage, based on which a plea agreement was concluded with him on a conditional sentence and fine,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.

Giorgi Bachiashvili was sentenced to imprisonment on March 5, 2025, for illegal crossing of the state border.

Bachiashvili was serving an 11-year prison sentence after being convicted of embezzling a large sum of cryptocurrency from the Georgian Dream party founder, Bidzina Ivanishvili, and laundering it.

The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) detained Giorgi Bachiashvili on May 27, 2025.
