Today marks the fourth year since the Association Agreement, including the DCFTA was signed on 27 June 2014, between Georgia and the EU. The signing of the Association Agreement brought the EU-Georgia relations to a qualitatively new level and stepped up the process of Georgia’s political association and economic integration with the EU.
The 500 million people EU market opened up for Georgian products in 2014, which boosted Georgia-EU trade-economic cooperation, including the export of Georgian products to the EU
Georgia has progressed much in terms of legal and institutional integration with the EU and has become a member of Europe’s energy union. Georgians can now travel visa free to the EU’s Schengen Zone and Georgia has launched high-level dialogue with the EU on security and other issues.
The Association Agreement has strengthened European values in Georgia and vital reforms have been carried out for human rights protection, the development of democratic institutions, the rule of law, against corruption and organised crime, border management, agriculture and environmental protection.
