Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced that starting May 1, the city will add lung cancer screening to its “Disease Screening” program, fully funded by the Tbilisi City Hall.
According to Kaladze, the budget allocation per patient will range from 10,000 to 235,000 GEL, depending on the required procedures.
The mayor emphasized that the municipality runs multiple programs to combat oncological diseases and will continue supporting citizens in this area. Health care and social services remain a priority in the city budget.
“February 4 is the International Day Against Cancer. Tbilisi City Hall stands alongside the population in this fight, implementing programs for both cancer screening and treatment. This support will continue in the future. Our budget prioritizes health and social services, and we have many programs to assist families and individuals who need our support the most,” Kaladze stated.
He also noted that the City Service of Health Care and Social Services administers programs for the prevention and treatment of oncological diseases, including disease screening, bone marrow transplantation, and funding for breast cancer medications. Additionally, the Medical Needs Funding Program provides financial support for other essential needs of oncology patients.
