In 2022, furniture prices increased by 30-40%, - the general director of the furniture manufacturing company "Homemade", Zuka Badridze told BMG.
According to him, the cost of materials needed for the production of products doubled last year, which made the price increase on the furniture inevitable. The company is trying to maintain the prices at the expense of reducing the profit margin.
"In recent years, the cost of furniture has increased significantly due to the price growth on raw materials. In fact, the cost of all the materials needed to make furniture has gone up by 100%, including wood, cloud, textile and etc. Nevertheless, we try our best to have a minimum margin and to make the prices as favorable as possible for the customer. This is furniture produced in Georgia and it should be much more affordable for the local population compared to imported furniture", - states Zuka Badridze.
According to "Galt & Taggart", in 2017-21, the share of local production in the furniture sector increased from 22.1% to 27.0%. Along with the increase in production, the price of furniture is also increasing due to high inflation.
