Today, we have 350 free ICU beds with breathing machines, so we do not face a problem of breathing machines in the country, - Deputy Minister of Health Tamar Gabunia declared.

According to her, the purchase of breathing apparatus in the country was carried out at the very first stage of the spread of coronavirus. However, the process is still continued.

"It is bad that the media is spreading misinformation about medical devices because these are the main aids that are critically important for the management of COVID infected patients.

The Ministry of Health purchased high-tech breathing apparatus at the very first stage of the epidemic. Their cost ranges from about $ 25,000 to $ 27,000. These are breathing ventilators that the patient actually needs in case of intubation.

The Ministry of Health also has purchased non-invasive ventilation devices the so-called CPAPs. The device has been used to treat respiratory apnea, but since the spread of coronavirus many countries have started using it to ensure a suppressed oxygen supply.

The device we purchased is recognized by the American Drug and Food Agency. Certification of this type of equipment is not done in our country yet, so we rely on the experience recognized by international regulators," - said the Deputy Minister.
