In 6M2023, the imports of natural gas in Georgia increased. In particular, in January-June of this year, 1.71 billion cubic meters of gas were imported into the country, while gas of 1.62 billion cubic meters were imported in the same period last year, - according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
As of Geostat, gas consumption has also increased. In particular, in the first half of 2023, the country consumed 1.72 billion cubic meters of gas, while 1.63 billion cubic meters in the first half of last year.
This year, 388.4 million cubic meter gas out of the total volume was used for the production of electricity. Georgia receives the largest part of natural gas from Azerbaijan, although this year the share of the Russian Federation in the energy market is increasing.
