Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze visited the Ikalto Church Architectural Complex.
The Head of Government was hosted by Metropolitan/Abba Davit of Alaverdi. The Prime Minister familiarized himself with the Ikalto Church and Academy, also being briefed in detailed on planned work.
A cultural monument of national importance, the domed Ikalto Church of the Transfiguration, and the building of the Academy, will be rehabilitated with financing from the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia.
Under restoration efforts, the tiled roof of the domed Church of the Transfiguration will be removed, the walls will be cleaned, damaged areas will be filled, the foundation will be reinforced, and a drainage canal will be built along the church's perimeter, with the conservation of the academy's wall to be carried out, and a load-bearing wall to be built.
3,073,219 GEL has been allocated for the monument's rehabilitation.
On his visit to the Ikalto Church Architectural Complex, Irakli Kobakhidze was accompanied by representatives of the Georgian Government, Parliament, and local authorities.
