Georgia Can't Be Subject To Significant Sanctions Than Becoming A Friendly State To Russia - Khishtovani

გიორგი ხიშტოვანი

Giorgi Khishtovani, director of the PMC Research Center declares, that Georgia is becoming a friendly state to Russia today, which is already tantamount to a sanction for the country, and no more significant sanctions can be imposed on Georgia.

"Sanctions still have a symbolic meaning. I think the most important is that the West is already openly talking about the fact that they are dealing with a political party friendly to Russia and the Kremlin. Accordingly, I cannot imagine sanctions that would be a big blow to Georgia on this perception. In my opinion, this is like a verdict, and this verdict, in turn, affects everything. For the West, we are becoming a friendly state to Russia, which is already a sanction. No more significant sanction can be imposed on Georgia than this. The perception that the West has of Georgia affects all sectors, including construction and tourism," Khishtovani explains.

According to the director of the PMC Research Center, if any type of financial sanctions are imposed on the country's financial system, the Georgian economy will not be able to withstand this.

"The Georgian economy is vulnerable to financial sanctions, and if financial sanctions are imposed on the country's financial sector, this will be a catastrophe for the country's economy", - Giorgi Khishtovani said.
