Georgia’s government collected GEL 5.6 billion in taxes during the first quarter of 2026, slightly exceeding its plan with 100.5% performance, according to the Finance Ministry’s Treasury report.
Breakdown of tax revenues shows strong performance across all major categories:
- Income tax: GEL 2.11 billion (104.4% of plan)
- Value-added tax (VAT): GEL 2.06 billion (102%)
- Profit tax: GEL 1 billion (106.6%)
- Excise tax: GEL 560 million (107.7%)
- Import tax: GEL 37.7 million (117.9%)
Beyond tax revenues, the government also secured funds through borrowing. The budget received GEL 1.47 billion from external debt (96% of plan) and GEL 211 million from domestic debt issuance (91% of plan).
