Over the past month, customs officers at the Kazbegi border checkpoint intercepted 39 instances of failure to comply with mandatory currency declaration requirements.
According to the Revenue Service, the total undeclared amount subject to declaration reached 3,042,301 GEL based on the official exchange rate set by the National Bank of Georgia.
The offending citizens were issued fines totaling 251,356 GEL in accordance with Parts 1, 2, and 3 of Article 169 of the Customs Code of Georgia.
