Georgia Earned USD 217 MLN In Wine Exports

Georgia received an income of USD 217 million 303 thousand from the sale of wine during the first ten months of 2023.

According to official statistics, natural grape wines took third place in the ten largest exporting goods with a 4.3%-share.

Wine sales from the country increased by 8.2% y-o-y. However, it should be noted that the volume of exported wine was higher in the 10 months of 2022. 75,726 tons of wine were exported this year, which was 4% less than last year.

The main sales market for Georgian wine has been Russia for years. In January-October 2023, Russia had a 66%-share in total exports.

If we look at the last 5-year period, wine sales in Russia were growing both in volume and value. The current year turned out to be an exception, when the value of exported goods increased by 11.7% to USD 144 million, while the volume decreased slightly, but still by 1.8%, to 53,547 tons. Therefore, we can say that the value of Georgian wine in Russia has increased.

Wine Exports by Months:

August - $12.9 million, 4,951 tons; decrease - 28.9%;

September - $16.9 million, 6,599 tons; decrease - 10.7%;

October - $15 million, 5,590 tons; Decrease - 23.3%.

Germany - $3.2 million, 876 tons;
Latvia - $3.2 million, 948 tons;
Lithuania - $1.8 million, 547 tons.
