In May 2025, Georgia resumed electricity exports, generating USD 9.2 million in revenue, according to the country’s State Electrosystem. A total of 187.67 million kWh of electricity was exported during the month, a significant decrease compared to over 311 million kWh exported in the same period last year.

Turkey remained the primary destination for Georgian electricity, receiving 172.3 million kWh. A smaller volume was also exported to Armenia.

Despite the resumed exports, market analysts expect a decline in overall electricity exports this year. Mariam Chakhvashvili, Head of Research at Galt & Taggart, attributes the expected drop to falling electricity prices in Turkey and reduced demand from the Turkish market.
