In January–February 2026, Georgia exported 219,086 tons of oil and oil products, valued at $93.2 million, to 12 countries, according to official statistics. Of this, 94.4% consisted of locally produced oil products, marking a sharp increase driven by domestic refining activity.

Exports of locally produced oil products surged by 2,175%, reaching a record $88 million, making oil products the second-largest locally exported commodity after Turkey, with a 13.3% share of Georgia’s total local exports.

The significant growth began in the final quarter of 2025, when Georgia’s oil product exports reached $30.1 million in November and $31.9 million in December, coinciding with the launch of operations at the Black Sea Petroleum refinery in the Kulevi Port.

One of the most notable developments in early 2026 is the emergence of Togo, a small West African country on the Gulf of Guinea, as one of Georgia’s top destinations. Roughly one-fifth of Georgia’s local oil product exports were shipped to Togo.

This marks the first recorded instance of trade between Georgia and Togo, as no prior export or import activity existed between the two countries.

Turkey remains the largest buyer, but Togo follows closely, ahead of several established global trading hubs such as Malta, Singapore, and the UAE.
