"In accordance with the action plan of the National Tourism Administration, the agency's primary goal is market diversification, for which multifaceted activities are carried out annually," stated Maya Omiadze, Head of the National Tourism Administration.
According to her, targeted marketing campaigns and close cooperation with United Airports of Georgia ensure the attraction of new airlines. These joint efforts directly translate into visitor statistics, which reflect strong country diversity among the top ten source markets.
"This is precisely the diversified market and the statistical data that we actually receive from the tourism industry. In our statistical top ten, we see markets such as China, India, European Union countries, the Gulf states, and naturally Israel, alongside neighboring countries.
According to our strategy, we work with them every year to bring significantly more travelers to Georgia," Omiadze noted. The Head of the National Tourism Administration emphasized that this planned diversification strategy has driven consistent growth in visitor traffic.
"The action plan designed for diversification has ensured year-over-year growth in travelers to Georgia. According to statistical data, Georgia has never hosted this many travelers from EU countries—they accounted for a 9.1% share in the overall statistics in the first quarter of 2026," Omiadze added.
In the first half of 2026, the total number of visits by international visitors declined by 2.7% to 2,734,504.
