The American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE) reports, that in 2022, China purchased wine worth USD 1.43 billion, of which 15 million accounted for Georgia.
According to the association, Georgia ranks 10th among wine exporters according to this indicator.
"China considers Georgia as an important market. Georgian producers hope that the opening of the Chinese market after the pandemic will cause an increase in wine exports," the association says.
According to Geostat, Georgia exported USD 2.6 million worth of wine to this market in 1Q2023.
As for the Chinese market itself, France is the leader among wine importers. China bought USD 662 million worth of wine from this country. Chile is in second place - with USD 336.7 million, followed by Italy - with USD 135.6 million.
