Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and the Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday says the talk of snap Parliamentary elections in the country - as demanded by a part of the opposition political party National Movement - is “absurd”. As he notes, the Parliamentary elections will be held in 2024.

"The country is undergoing development and economic progress. As for the snap elections, this is a very big absurdity and a very big stupidity. The Parliamentary elections will be held in 2024, as it is envisaged by the constitution. The opposition has a political crisis”, he says.

In addition, to the question whether the process of de-oligarchization is necessary for striving towards the European Union, Kakha Kaladze answers that the government fulfills all the requirements that are necessary for joining the European family.

"We have never deviated from the European path. The government of Georgia has done everything to implement the Association Agreement, visa-free travel and other important reforms," said Kakha Kaladze.
