212 violations of the rule requiring prices to be displayed in GEL were identified this year, with 27 individuals fined a total of 27,000 GEL. This information was released by the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance.
According to the agency, employees of the Tax Monitoring Department are intensively administering compliance nationwide regarding the rule that prices for property sales and service offers must be expressed in GEL by business entities.
The Revenue Service reports that out of the 212 violations detected during the first 7 months of the current year, warnings were issued as a sanction to 185 individuals, while monetary fines totaling 27,000 GEL were imposed on 27 individuals.The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance once again reminds business entities that, according to the Organic Law of Georgia "On the National Bank of Georgia," the GEL is the sole legal tender on the territory of Georgia, except in free industrial zones, duty-free shops, and/or cases defined by the National Bank.Consequently, the agency calls on business entities to refrain from violating the rules on displaying prices in GEL.
