Temporary modular schools will be installed in locations where school rehabilitations face significant delays, leaving students and teachers previously forced to relocate to other facilities.
This information comes from an explanatory note published by the Municipal Development Fund (MDF) under the Ministry of Infrastructure regarding a 22.5 million GEL tender.
According to the MDF, the decision to acquire temporary modular school infrastructure was made jointly by the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Education.
"The goal of this initiative is to promptly create safe, fully equipped, and appropriate temporary learning spaces for students during the construction of new schools and the rehabilitation of existing ones. This will prevent disruptions to the educational process caused by construction work and minimize the need to transfer students to other schools.
Modular schools consist of factory-made, fully equipped, and transportable learning units assembled into school complexes that can be installed on-site within a short timeframe. Their deployment is planned for schools where temporary learning spaces become necessary during new construction or rehabilitation works.
With modular schools, students will be able to continue their education directly on or near their school grounds in a safe, fully equipped environment. This reduces the need for student transfers and daily commuting, supporting the continuity of the learning process," the MDF stated in its release.
Project & Technical Details
Procurement Scope: The project plans to acquire approximately 750 modular units, including:
600 classroom modules
100 administrative modules
50 sanitary (restroom) modules
Classroom Specifications: Each classroom module is designed to accommodate 10–12 students and one teacher, with indicative dimensions of 3 meters by 7 meters, fully equipped with heating and cooling systems.
Delivery Capacity: Under the tender terms, the supplier must be capable of delivering and installing at least 200 modules within two months of receiving a written order.
Geographic Coverage: Module delivery and installation will take place nationwide across Georgia.
Warranties & Tender Requirements
Structural & Exterior Warranty: Minimum 10 years
Engineering Systems Warranty: Minimum 5 years
Heating & Cooling Warranty: Minimum 2 years
Lifespan: Minimum operational lifespan of 10 years
Bidders (or manufacturers) must possess relevant experience producing or supplying similar modular units valued at a cumulative total of at least 90,000 GEL between January 1, 2021, and the deadline for bid submissions.
Bids open on September 23, 2026, and close on September 28, 2026.
