“Salome Zourabichvili and the radical opposition are engaged in dialogue, while Georgia continues progressing. This is merely an attempt to introduce extremism into Georgian society,” the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, stated.
Papuashvili also noted that externally driven processes are currently unfolding.
“We have witnessed foreign politicians standing in front of the Georgian Parliament, openly urging Salome Zourabichvili and the radical opposition to adopt a Maidan-style approach. For instance, a representative of the Swedish government—the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee—who criticized the situation despite its initial calm, explicitly suggested a Maidan scenario. Subsequently, we saw actions aligned with such a scenario: firecrackers, Molotov cocktails, assaults on police officers, and attacks on the Parliament building.
These efforts are part of an ongoing attempt to implement a failed Maidan scenario in Georgia under various pretexts and at different times. However, such attempts consistently overlook a critical factor—Georgian society’s resilience and commitment to its country. Georgian society has always rejected such divisive actions by both internal and external adversaries, and it will continue to do so,” Papuashvili affirmed.
