Georgia's Environmental Supervision Department detected 2,664 violations of the Waste Management Code between January 1 and June 30, 2026. The most common offenses included littering with municipal waste, open burning of non-hazardous municipal waste, illegal disposal of construction materials, and violations related to corporate waste management plans.

According to the department, 713 cases involved littering with municipal waste, while 267 were linked to the open burning of waste. Another 250 cases involved construction or inert waste, and 240 concerned failures to comply with waste management plan requirements.

The highest number of violations was recorded in Kvemo Kartli with 654 cases, followed by Kakheti (372) and Tbilisi (532). Additional violations were reported across other regions of the country.

The Environmental Supervision Department said effective enforcement of waste management laws remains a priority. Inspection teams conduct round-the-clock patrols nationwide and respond to reports of environmental violations submitted through the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture's hotline (153).
