As of today, 4 570 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at a press-briefing held today at the Government Administration.
He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of December 10, 2020.
“Within the scope of intensive testing 19 636 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 11 718 were antigen-based express test method and 7 918 PCR.
As of today, 4 570 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 178 953 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.
3 045 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 148 332.
Unfortunately, 43 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since February 26 the total death toll has reached 1 657.
Out of 4 570 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 2 067 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 331 – in Adjara, 708 – in Imereti, 352 – in Kvemo Kartli, 214 – in Shida Kartli, 72 – in Guria, 325 – in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 272 – in Kakheti, 133 – in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 75 – in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 21 – in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 28 938, out of which 6 918 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 3 017 are stationed in Tbilisi, 991 – in Adjara and 1 357 – in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 1 130 patients, out of which 515 are based in Tbilisi, 155 – in Adjara and 259 – in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 453 patients, out of which 205 are stationed in Tbilisi, 54 – in Adjara and 77 – in Imereti.
3 524 individuals are placed at COVID Hotels, out of which 1 144 are based in Tbilisi, 1 715 – in Adjara and 370 – in Imereti. 18 496 individuals are treated at home.
1 019 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 299 are located in Tbilisi, 138 – in Adjara and 28 – in Imereti.
In total, 20 139 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine spaces in the period of October 6 through December 9, 2020.
At present, 50 724 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 19 817 are based in Tbilisi, 10 336 – in Adjara and 5 647 – in Imereti” announced Berdia Sichinava.
