Georgia recorded a decline in tourism activity in the second quarter of 2026, with the number of international visitor trips falling by 4.5% and tourist visits decreasing by 2.7% year-on-year, according to the National Tourism Administration.
During April–June, international visitors made 1,564,142 visits to Georgia. The decline was partly linked to conflicts in the Middle East, which led to a sharp drop in visitors from Iran (-48.6%) and Israel (-11.6%). Lower numbers were also recorded from Turkey, Armenia, and the United States.
The largest number of visits came from Russia, with 380,108 visits (+5%), followed by Turkey with 287,012 (-6.9%) and Armenia with 199,577 (-5%). Other major markets included Israel, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, China, Belarus, Germany, and Poland.
In Q2 2026, Georgia received 1,275,435 tourist-type visits, down 2.7% annually. One-day visits also declined, falling by nearly 12% to 288,707. Despite the overall decrease, several markets showed growth, including Ukraine (+21.3%), Germany (+21%), Kazakhstan (+9.4%), and Poland (+10%).
