Georgia transferred $285.5 million abroad in the first eight months of 2026, with Azerbaijan, Turkey and Russia receiving the largest amounts, according to National Bank data.
From January to August, $49.9 million was transferred to Azerbaijan, $46.2 million to Turkey and $29.8 million to Russia. Other major destinations included Ukraine ($18.2m), Greece ($17.1m), Uzbekistan ($16.2m), Kazakhstan ($12.9m), Italy ($10.9m), Germany ($8.3m) and the US ($7.9m).
Transfers to these 10 countries totaled $217.4 million, accounting for around 76% of all money sent abroad during the period, indicating a high concentration of outbound flows among several destinations.
In August alone, $33.6 million was transferred abroad, down 5.8% from $35.7 million a year earlier. Meanwhile, remittances entering Georgia reached $295.2 million, down 8.2% year-on-year, but still around 8.8 times higher than the amount sent abroad.
