Georgia should have closer relations with EU, but limit with Russia - NDI Poll

According to a survey by the National Democratic Institute (NDI), Russian invasion strengthened belief that Georgia should have closer relations with EU, but limit with Russia.

After the Russian invasion, EU, USA and Turkey are top most desired political and economic partners for most Georgians.

To the question: which countries and unions should Georgia have the closest political/economic cooperation with? - 42% of respondents say Georgia should have the closest political cooperation with the EU, after Russian invasion of Ukraine. 35% of the respondents - USA and 17% - Turkey.

As for the economic cooperation, 40% of the respondents declare, that Georgia must have the closest economic cooperation with the EU, 28% - the USA and 26% - with Turkey.

According to NDI, the results reflect data collected between February 3-15 and March 9-20, through telephone interviews with a nationwide representative sample of Georgia’s adult population, excluding occupied territories. The February poll included 2,036 completed interviews, while the March poll included 2024 completed interviews. The average margin of error is +/- 1.8 percent (February poll), and +/- 1.6 percent (March poll). Respondents were selected using the random-digit-dial method.
