Georgia started exporting electricity from April. As of the electricity balance, the country exported 166 million kWh of electricity to Turkey. In total, in four months of the current year, Georgia exported almost 168 million kWh of electricity, from which the country received an income of USD 12 million.
In April of this year, the Ministry of Economy published the electricity balance outlook. This year the government expected that the exports of electricity would exceed one billion kWh this year, while the exports would start from April.
According to the outlook, the volume of exports should be 346.2 million kilowatts in April. In 2022, 89% (971 million kWh) of the electricity was exported from Georgia to Turkey, while 11% to Armenia.
