Georgia is set to begin one of its largest sports infrastructure expansions to date, with construction of 30 technical stadiums and eight full-scale stadiums scheduled to start next year. GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced the 2025 Best Athlete Awards ceremony.
Kobakhidze emphasized that the government’s nationwide initiative aims to strengthen the country’s athletic capacity at both community and professional levels. “We have planned very important projects. Our goal is to develop sports infrastructure across the entire country,” he said. “Each municipality will have a multifunctional sports center serving various disciplines, contributing to the growth of both mass and high-performance sports.”
According to the Prime Minister, the rollout of 30 technical stadiums will begin in 2025, eventually ensuring that all municipalities are equipped with such facilities. In addition, eight cities will see the construction of new full-scale stadiums, a move the government says will broaden opportunities for athletes and bolster regional sports development.
The initiative marks a significant investment in Georgia’s sports sector, aligning with broader goals to promote physical activity, nurture athletic talent, and support the hosting of future sporting events.
