On Wednesday, April 24, a loan agreement of 23.2 million EUR was signed between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) regarding the strengthening of the healthcare sector in Georgia.
The document was signed by Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia, and Lesley Bearman Lahm, Country Director for the Georgia Resident Mission, Asian Development Bank (ADB).
In total, financial resources in the amount of 46,275,000 EUR will be allocated by the bank. According to the loan agreement, the first tranche of 23,137,500 EUR will be paid in 2024, and the second tranche is planned to be received in 2025.
The program provides increasing benefits offered to the population for primary health care, specialized ambulatory care and diagnostic services, as well as reducing financial access barriers, improving service delivery at all service levels, improving digital information systems needed to more effectively manage health programs and public spending on the health sector, improving governance and accountability for service quality.
