Georgian Air Navigation (Saqaeronavigatsia) plans to conduct a simplified procurement worth €3.5 million for one year of technical support for its automated air traffic management systems and simulator. The state-owned company cites exclusive rights as the basis for the procurement.
The contract will cover technical support from September 23, 2026, to September 23, 2027. The systems were manufactured by Spain-based Indra Sistemas S.A. and are used at the relevant infrastructure of Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi airports, including primary, backup and testing air traffic management systems.
According to Saqaeronavigatsia, the systems were last upgraded and expanded under a €1 million contract signed with Indra Sistemas in March 2024. The one-year warranty period expired in May 2026, leaving the systems without technical support. The company says this could complicate access to spare parts, software fixes and other technical services.
Saqaeronavigatsia links the new procurement directly to flight safety, as the automated systems and simulator are essential to aircraft traffic management. The systems have a planned minimum operating life of 10 years. Although individual services could technically be procured separately, the company says using other providers is not advisable because the relevant intellectual property and technical control rights belong to Indra Sistemas.
