Georgia will receive kiwi harvest of over 150 tons in 2021. According to the Kiwi Producers Association, Georgian farmers sell kiwi more successfully abroad than in the local market.
Georgian kiwi is mainly exported in Japan, which exports amounted to 50 tons. 1 kilogram of kiwi is sold at 4.50 GEL.
The Association says that exporting the product to the EU is still a problem because farmers need to prepare a lot of documentation for this.
It should be noted that in 2020, Japan exported 25.84 tons of kiwi, while in 2019, before the pandemic, this figure stood at 154.2 tons.
