Georgian authorities should change the anti-EU narratives with proactive and objective communication about the EU and its support for the country, - this is stated in the EU enlargement report, which was published today.
According to the document, the institutions responsible for the EU integration process are mostly functioning in Sakaryvelo, however, despite the fact that the EU integration remains the declared goal of the country's policy, last year's reforms and some developments did not correspond to this goal, and limited political attention was mobilized by the government for the progress of the EU agenda.
"Georgian authorities should clarify their intentions by changing this course of action. In order to implement EU-related reforms more effectively, stronger multi-party political support is needed in all decision-making state institutions. Inter-ministerial coordination and civil participation should be strengthened to implement the EU agenda. Georgian authorities should change anti-EU narratives with proactive and objective communication about the EU and its support for the country," the document states.
Overall, there has been limited progress in strengthening good governance, according to the report.
"Political polarization limits institutional relations, as well as policy development and legislative processes," the document notes.
