Traditional products company Georgian Kalata plans to open a new factory in Lanchkhuti, Guria next year, marking its largest expansion to date. Co-founder Vako Elisabedashvili told BM.GE that while the branch was originally scheduled to open this summer, construction delays pushed the launch into 2026. The company currently operates a small factory on Kairo Street in Tbilisi and has been working to scale its production capacity.

Elisabedashvili said that the building in Lanchkhuti has already been constructed, with interior work now underway. Technical equipment will be installed once internal preparations are complete. The new enterprise represents an investment of GEL 3 million, covering both land acquisition and full facility development. After operations begin, Georgian Basket expects its production volume to increase fourfold, significantly boosting its ability to meet rising demand.

At the initial stage, the Lanchkhuti factory will employ up to 15 people, with further expansion possible as output grows. The company forecasts annual sales growth of 15–20%, driven by broader distribution channels. Previously, Georgian Kalata sold mainly through its own retail points, Duty Free shops, and partners such as Goodwill.

The company has recently begun supplying small stores in tourist areas, which has already delivered strong results.

Founded in 2015, Georgian Basket now operates four of its own outlets and partners with around 15 local stores. Its products—ranging from Georgian sauces and gozinaki to churchkhela, spices, jams, tea, and oils, are available in major retail networks and online. While some items are produced by partner companies, Georgian Basket handles packaging and sales. With the upcoming Guria factory, the company aims to expand both production capacity and national presence in the traditional Georgian food market.
