This year, Georgian Product Renaissance plans to export 10 tons of pecan hazelnuts to Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. As Levan Bolkvadze, one of the founders of the company, explains, pecan hazelnuts are less popular in Georgia, although they have great export potential.
According to him, at this stage gardens of Pecan hazelnuts are grown only land area of 15 hectares in Georgia and the gardens are located in Abasha, Khobi, Lagodekhi and Kvareli.
Pecan, like nuts, is mainly used in confectionery and its price on the international market ranges from USD 7 to USD 9.
