Georgian PM Met With EBRD Vice President

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Jürgen Rigterink, the First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The conversation at the meeting focused on ongoing and planned projects implemented in Georgia with support from the EBRD.

The Head of Government thanked the Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for support. It was noted that the EBRD ensures proper response to set strategic directions, which allows for implementing important reforms.

It was pointed out at the meeting that the portfolio of the EBRD in Georgia makes up about 5 billion euros in 287 projects, with 82% of these investments channelled into the private sector.

The Head of Government briefed the EBRD Vice President on the trends in Georgia’s economy. It was emphasized that, despite the dire regional situation, Georgia maintains steadily growing economic indicators.

Georgia’s ongoing and planned structural reforms in the directions of transport and logistics, along with the implementation of large investment projects, were discussed at the meeting, namely the potential of the Middle Corridor and the Georgian Government’s vision of the development of Black Sea port infrastructure, including the projects of new Tbilisi International Airport and the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port.

The parties discussed energy security and investment prospects in this sphere. The conversation touched on Georgia’s energy potential and the importance of investing in the area of renewable resources.
